The 10th Special Olympics National Summer Games will take place in Sheffield across a number of sporting venues between 7-12 August 2017.
This event is the country’s largest multi-sports competition for athletes with learning disabilities. Around 2,600 athletes of all ages and abilities from across the country will come together to compete in 19 sports.
The Summer Games are held every 4 years and are an opportunity to showcase the fantastic sporting abilities of children and adults with learning disabilities, allowing them to compete at a national level, experience the personal achievement this brings, as well as enable them to make friends, travel and socialise.
Sheffield United’s famous and world-class Bramall Lane stadium will be venue for a spectacular Olympic-style Opening Ceremony to take place on Tuesday 8 August 2017. Over 5,000 family members and friends will watch during the events from the stands to cheer on and celebrate the athletes.
