Community Integration
Home From Home Care are teaming up with the Prince’s Trust to provide work experience and community integration opportunities for young people in the Lincoln area who are working towards their Prince’s Trust award. The Prince’s Trust provide an opportunity to help individuals integrate into the community as well as develop their personal and work skills in a working environment.
There will be 8 – 10 young people from various backgrounds coming to our site at Dorrington throughout next week, all with different skill sets and experiences. They will be working on the grounds at the site to help clear an area ready to house a brand new sensory garden for our residents to access. Some of the young people coming to us are in the process of studying for a gardening course, which this will help towards their accreditation.
Also included in the group will be individuals with additional skill sets in different areas such as cookery and music, who will put on workshops alongside our staff for the individuals we support to be involved in. Some of the young people coming to us have never worked in an environment such as a residential care setting for individuals with complex needs, so this will provide them with invaluable insight.
It is a fantastic opportunity for us to support these young people to give something back into the community and more importantly provide them an opportunity to better themselves by learning new skills in a new environment.
